As we begin a new year, we wanted to provide you with an update on our significant progress towards establishing a global ecosystem to make the Internet age-aware. We believe this is a fundamental prerequisite for the deployment of a wide-range of safety measures that will create a safer Internet for children.
We’re looking for feedback on the AgeAware specification document. Please feel free to respond to as many or as few questions as you’d like based on the document. Your input will be invaluable in refining the specification.
We’re excited to announce a major update in our euCONSENT project. We’ve just released a detailed specification of AgeAware® for public consultation, introducing this upgraded solution for online age verification. This enhanced, tokenised approach builds on our original EU-funded technology and meets the latest global requirements for privacy and age assurance.
At the heart of euCONSENT 2.0 will be a new, free AgeAware App which will store anonmyized tokens issued by approved Age Assurance providers to users who successfully complete an online age check, using any audited and certified method.

euCONSENT was a pilot project, initiated by the European Parliament and funded to the tune of €1.4m by the Commission. Members of the consortium have come together to create a new non-profit organisation to bring the solution into live operation.
euConsent has the support of Ewa Kopacz, Vice President of the European Parliament, European Parliament Coordinator on Children’s Rights: “Online technologies provide many wonderful opportunities for children both in terms of education and social interaction. All children should be able to participate in and benefit from the internet, social media and other digital tools. At the same time, we must ensure we have policies, laws and tools in place to protect children from abuse and exploitation when in the online environment.”
